2009 summary:
A successful 2009 season came to a close in mid September. And with September came some of the finest weather and excellent Coho fishing. Guests were catching Coho from 15 - 22lbs ! The best part being, it was all within 5 minutes of the camp. For those familiar with the area, we fished Double island to Inner Black rock with great success each day. September Sunshine and flat calm water made it even more enjoyable.
With reports of tough fishing in other coastal areas, we counted our blessings that our fishing was consistent and catches plentiful. Early July had good Chinook fishing at the usual hotspots, Rosa, the Gap and Ferrer point. From Mid July to late August the highway was the place to be for Coho and Kings. Rodgers Tyee club registered 202 members this season. The largest weighed 44 lbs. Bottom fishing for Halibut, Lings and Snapper was good from the start of our season in mid June. The largest Halibut this year was 170 lbs. with lots in the delicious 25-40 lb. range.
More accommodation options:
Those who visited this season would have seen a whole lot of changes going on. We purchased a new float in May and constructed another guest house with 8 large bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Guests visiting us after mid July were able to experience the new rooms first hand. And those that brought their own boats enjoyed the option of having moorage right outside their room. To those that were there during construction we thank you again for your patience and help making it all come together.
Now with 20 guest rooms and more dock space we hope your stays will be even more enjoyable. A new tackle shop also came together. Next season look for a full line of hot local tackle, snacks and beverages available on site. In addition we added another large ice maker for chilling your catch.
Water and more water....
The early part of summer was spent replacing and upgrading our water lines. This resulted in a 50% increase in water flow! Not only that, but we added a second water line from another nearby source that when connected in spring 09 will make our water supply better than ever. There are more changes coming... and we'll keep you posted!
2010 season:
Our calendar is already filling up. Thanks to those who have already secured their dates for next season! If you're thinking of a trip for 2010, we have a variety of packages available, and will be posted shortly.
